Work at Home Business : Vinegar from Banana Peeling
For this procedure, you will need Cheesecloth or Katya(for filtering) and 10 Earthenjar or Palayok(5-gal, for storing).

Ingredients :
1. Sliced Banana(Saba) Peeling (approximately 1/2 x 1/2 inch) - 150cups
2. Brown Sugar - 8kgs.
3. Water
4. Baker's Yeast (optional)

Procedure :
1. Wash the banana peelings to remove dirt.
2. Measure the following ingredients and place them equally in each of the 10 earthen jars or palayok :
  • 15 cups banana peeling
  • 5 cups brown sugar
  • 5 teaspoons baker's yeast (optional)
3. Fill each jar with clean water to at least 1 inch from the rim.
4. Cover each jar with a piece of cheesecloth, securing it with a plastic twine.
5. Leave for 1 week.
6. After a week, stir the mixture with clean ladle for 5 minutes. Do this for one week. Make sure to cover tha jars after stirring.
7. Leave for another 2 weeks. After then, the vinegar should be ready.
8. Strain the mixture with a clean cheesecloth to separate the peelings from the vinegar. (Use the peelings as organic fertilizer through composting).
9. Store the vinegar in clean plastic pails for further fermentation.
10. Boil the vinegar for 10 minutes. Allow to cool. The vinegar is now ready to be sold.

Estimated cost : P 1900.00 for 50 gallons or P 38.00/gallon. Can be sold for P75.00/gallon for a profit of P27.00/gallon.
