Banana Chips are under-ripe bananas that are cut into slices, dipped in syrup solution dried under the sun or by artificial means then fried. This is a way to start a Work at Home Business
Ingredients :
- 100pcs. under-ripe Green Bananas (Saba, Latundan, Lakatan)
- 2-kg brown sugar
- 1 bottle of Honey
- 50pcs. Lemon
- 5 bottles Cooking Oil
1. Evenly slice the Green Banana, 5 - 8mm thick.
2. Immediately soak the sliced bananas(chips) into citric acid solution (made by mixing 1 part lemon juice with 2-3 parts water) for 3-5minutes to prevent them from turning brown. Note : the solution can be used twice.
3. Drain the chips using plastic sieve then dip the chips in syrup solution (done by making 1 cup of sugar with 3 cups of boiling water and adding 1 cup of honey) for 3-5 minutes.
4. Drain the chips and placed them in a drying tray.
5. Let the chips dry under the sun for 2 days until texture becomes rubbery soft.
6. Heat vegetable oil in frying pan to 180 - 200°C and dip the chips until they turn golden brown.
7. Drain the oil from chips and allow to cool at room temperature.
8. The chips are now ready to be packed to be marketed.
Estimated Cost : P 1,226.37, which is good for 50packs. Can be sold for P30/pack for a profit of P273.00
